Turn conviction into impact with our ECG software
The common good needs more than good intentions.
The conviction to run a business for the common good is there – but is it enough?
The Economy for the Common Good stands for an economic model that factors human dignity, solidarity, social justice, ecological sustainability, transparency and co-determination into business decisions.
The ECG matrix gives you the orientation you need. It makes your organisation’s contribution to the wellbeing of people and the planet visible, and helps you spot potential for improvement, derive actions, and track progress transparently.

But there’s a world of difference between conviction and a meaningful ECG report:
-
Many topics, many stakeholders: You have to pull together information from different areas – a tedious process.
-
High coordination effort: Responsibilities, deadlines and progress all need to be coordinated.
-
The report risks staying a snapshot: Without a link to goals and actions, your ECG report doesn’t automatically turn into real change.
The wish to drive change quickly turns into a complex process – one that doesn’t bear fruit for a long time.

The Economy for the Common Good, or ECG for short, is a values-based economic model. It measures economic success not only by financial metrics, but also by the contribution a company makes to the wellbeing of people and the planet.
At its core are human dignity, solidarity and social justice, ecological sustainability, as well as transparency and co-determination.
The ECG matrix is the central tool of the Economy for the Common Good. It connects the core ECG values with an organisation’s key stakeholder groups, such as employees, suppliers, customers and society.
Structured across 20 common good topics, it shows how a company takes on social, ecological and ethical responsibility. This makes visible where impact is already being created and where there’s still potential for development.
The ECG report describes how an organisation addresses the topics of the ECG matrix in its day-to-day business. It makes achievements, challenges and potential for improvement transparent.
A common good balance sheet is created once the report is additionally assessed and externally reviewed or audited. In short: the report describes the contribution to the common good, the audit certificate confirms the external review.
ECG software can support companies in creating both an ECG report and a common good balance sheet.
Companies use the ECG to systematically assess social, ecological and ethical impact, identify potential for improvement and make their development transparent. This also creates a foundation for trust, cooperation and long-term development.
No, the common good balance sheet is fundamentally a voluntary instrument. It can complement statutory reporting requirements, but does not replace them.
The ECG reporting standard is built directly into leadity reporting. With our Economy for the Common Good software, companies can edit ECG data points, coordinate responsibilities, deadlines and status, and carry relevant indicators forward in sustainability controlling.
